What is a Code of conduct?

A code of conduct policy is a set of rules that explains how employees should conduct themselves in the workplace during working hours. The policy is a well-defined set of guidelines, beliefs, expectations for employees, steps, and interactions that a company deems significant and essential to its success. The policy of code of conduct can be found in the employee handbook. The policy is provided to the employees to let them know what is expected of them.

How does it work?

Every company is unique and different in its way, which means their company’s policies are different. However, every company has a set of rules and principles that are to be followed by the employees and how they must adhere to them. The document defines the company’s mission, values, and visions that they want to achieve in the near future.

The documents state various features like;

  • How to follow the highest ethical business standards.
  • How to create a strong and thorough foundation based on the policy.
  • The policy assures that any acts of discrimination or sexual harassment won’t occur in the organization, and if does then some actions will be taken against the person.
  • The policy guarantees that the business abides by its policies and ensures compliance with the legal system.
  • It represents the image of the company and issues a public statement about its values and principles.
  • It assists them better in the procedure for resolving workplace issues.
  • The document portrays what the organization expects from its employees concerning the work environment.
  • The company’s primary focus is on trust, which includes every vital aspect like operations, customers, fellow employees, etc.
  • The company has mentioned where and to who an employee can refer when they need specific information regarding the policy.
